Kristin Hunter is a new author with a lot of potential. However, this read like a good first draft. The overall plot was intriguing, the characters were well developed, and the detail to setting was amazing. The book fell flat as the plot developed. More time needed to be spent on the pros and cons of GMOs. Hunter missed a real opportunity there, having selected such a topical subject. The lack of time spent made the main character seem flighty when she suddenly flips from being pro to con GMO. In addition, without having an spoilers, the ending was too rushed. After so much fantastic setting up of the story and attention to detail regarding Mexico City, this was a disappointment. I feel that some additional time with a harsh editor and this book could have been spectacular. Hunter has a gift for story telling that just needs more effort.Product details

A well written and engaging short story. Author did a great job with plot and character presentation. I would definitely read other books by this author.
A great story, interesing plot and characters and insight to a culture I had not been familar to. It not only entertained me but taught me as well. A must read. I hope to read future books from this author.
The plot kept me interested. The story kept up a good pace. I just wish I could teach the world, and the editor of this book in particular, a quick lesson on the verbs lie and lay. There is a difference and it matters.
